Diesel is a 3.5 year old Blue American Staffordshire Terrier. He is from a well-known breeder in Colorado and guaranteed non-aggressive. He is well socialized with all dogs and cats and loves people more than anything. He is great with kids. He is a rare breed and his owners originally paid $1500 for him and drove him back to their home in Cleveland. Due to a divorce and move to a pit-bull banned city he could not go with his owners. Diesel is a great dog for someone who understand the breed. He is up to date on shots and neutered.
Testimonial from Diesel's foster-Mom:
Diesel would be my dog in a heartbeat if my beloved first furbaby was not seriously ill and in need of a lot of care taking. Diesel is a tiny puppy wrapped up in a big dog's body! He has been an absolute joy to foster. My pit bull Julie and him have really become close and play together so nicely. Diesel is also a good sport with Punchy, the 2lb "rat" dog that runs around here. Diesel is very gentle with him when playing tug or just wrestling around. But if you were in the other room you would swear it was two big dogs wrestling. The two of them become very vocal when romping around together. It is VERY cute.
I have taken Diesel on many walks and a few car rides to gauge how he handles change. When it comes to people, this dog loves them all. He does extremely well with small children and is good about not jumping on them or knocking them over. He lets them pull, tug whatever as long as he has their attention. He could care less about cats. I took him to a friends house who has a cat that loves dogs. The cat tried everything and couldn't get Diesel's attention. It was quite hysterical. Eventually the cat jumped on his head. Diesel was startled then smelled the cat and went right on doing what he was doing before. He is great with dogs. He has played with every age and breed at the Mutt Hutt and on a one on one basis with me. Female or male doesn't seem to matter. I have had him around dominant females and that does not seem to bother him. He also did well with the two dominant males I introduced him to. Ah but I did find his quirk! He is afraid of cockatiels! My friend has two vocal birds who are used to all types of animals. They were teasing him a bit but not even food could get him to go near their cage. Just something to keep in mind.
Also, NO CRATE training him. I did manage, with much struggle, to get him in a crate. I left for two hours and came back. Diesel became extremely stressed out and was sick the rest of the night. He drooled tremendously in the cage and when I let him out he threw up three times. He then had diarrhea. He does not do a thing in the bedroom I leave him loose in so I do not think a crate will ever be necessary.
