I had two servals... unfortunately I have to sell them both. :o(
i originally was only selling one and he's gone. the other one i kept because he was a much sweeter cat and had much better markings... unfortunately i have to sell this one, too. :o( i love these cats, but for business reasons i don't have the time to be home with them. i'm self employed so i was here with the cats all the time and my girlfriend used to come over and spend a lot of time with them every day as well. but she's down in nashville now with a record deal. i'll be down there a couple times a month as well and can't lug a soon to be 35 lb. cat around with me. :o(
so needless to say, as little time as these cats really demand (i just WANTED to be with them all the time!), i feel bad that i can't spend hours a day with them like i used to... and being gone for a few days at a time doesn't work out for him.
sooo... that's my one and only reason for selling him... soon to be on the road too much. he's a total sweetheart. he has never bitten anyone or used his claws out of anger. you CAN declaw him if you choose... i chose not to, and in the 7 months i've had him he hasn't damaged anything. the vet. i take him to said she would do it for $200... so there's an estimate for you if you choose to do that.
he's an absolute lover. anywhere i go, that's where he is. the instant i sit on the floor he's right there rubbing up against me. most cats are a "one person cat"... this guy loves everyone and knows no stranger. i call him my dog (haha).
he likes to head butt... so watch out (it hurts if he gets ya good!)... but it's always in fun and play.
i paid $2500 for him and got him at 9 weeks old. he's now 7 months and i have loved every minute as his owner... guaranteed you will fall in love with him, too. he would make a GREAT stud if you want to find a female and have little kittens/cubs. :o) make it a hobby and an extra income source. babies sell before they're even born at $3k+. my other serval sold in only 4 days and he was 6 months old.
or if you're just fascinated by big cats like i am, then he'll be a great companion for you and your family.
i have a domestic cat and they get along GREAT. he's a little shaky around my dog... but she is too so they just never have too much to do with each other... they DO get along though.
if you've heard anything negative about servals, put it all aside. coming from an owner first hand, the only thing bad about them is they'll love YOU more than you could possibly love them! maybe i just got an extra sweet serval... i don't know.
as soon as i settle down i'll have a couple more... my main fear is that i'm letting go of an abnormally sweet cat. :o(
